Day trip to Inis Oírr

The smallest and closest island is easily done in a few hours: O'Brien's Castle, the Plassey shipwreck, a beach and playground by the pier, and music in three island pubs.

Islands and Cliffs combo ticket

The best-value option: visit any Aran Island, then stay aboard on the return for the Cliffs of Moher cruise. It can be added to every island departure time.

Cliffs of Moher boat tour

A 45-minute to one-hour cruise from Doolin Pier, sailing right beneath the 214 m cliffs north of O'Brien's Tower. Look for the Great Sea Stack, the Harry Potter sea cave and Europe's largest seabird colonies, with live crew commentary.

Aran Islands ferry

Fast, direct crossings to the three islands: 15 minutes to Inis Oírr, 20 to Inis Meáin and 35 to Inis Mór. Ferries have indoor coach seating, outdoor decks, toilets and a mini-bar.

Wildlife and seabirds

Over 35 bird species nest on the cliffs. Watch for puffins (best in May and June), kittiwakes, razorbills and guillemots, plus dolphins, grey seals and basking sharks.

Pier ticket office and gift shop

The main red ticket office is on Doolin Pier, with a second information point and ticket outlet on Fisher Street beside O'Connor's Pub. Aran Islands gifts and vouchers are sold year-round.

Hours: Ferries run 28 February – 1 November 2026, daily including bank holidays. Check in at the ticket office at least 30 minutes before sailing, or 1 hour in peak season.
Admission: Aran Islands return fares: €20–€37 per adult to Inis Oírr, €25–€47 per adult to Inis Mór or Inis Meáin; one-way and inter-island €13–€30. Under-4s free.
Parking: Two Clare County Council car parks at Doolin Pier plus roadside spaces between them; pay-and-display — €1 for 0–2 hrs, €5 for 2–30 hrs, €15 for 30 hrs–1 week. Pay online with the Park Magic app before you arrive.
Food: A small refreshment stand on Doolin Pier serves light snacks before or after departure, and all ferries have refreshments and a mini-bar on board.
