Cookie Policy

Last updated: 12 July 2026

This page explains exactly what funtler.ie stores on your device and why. We use no advertising cookies, no third-party analytics, and no cross-site tracking. Everything described here is first-party: it stays between your browser and our own servers.

Essential storage

These are needed for the site to work at all — remembering that you are signed in, and remembering the choice you made about personalisation. They cannot be switched off, because without them there is no working site.

NameDetails
cookieConsent.v2
Type: Local storage (first-party)
Expiry: Until you clear it
Purpose: Remembers the choice you made below, so we do not ask again on every visit.
authToken
Type: Local storage (first-party)
Expiry: Until you sign out or it expires
Purpose: Keeps you signed in. Only present if you have an account and are logged in.
funtler.location
Type: Local storage (first-party)
Expiry: Until you clear it
Purpose: Remembers the area you are browsing, so the feed opens where you left off.

Personalisation — only with your consent

If you accept personalisation, we record how you interact with places so that recommendations get better the more you browse: which cards you saw, how long you looked at them, which you opened, saved, marked as visited or told us you were not interested in, and which filters you chose. We use that to work out what you tend to like and to rank future results accordingly.

We do not record your IP address or browser fingerprint alongside these events, we do not sell or share them, and no third party ever receives them. If you decline, none of it is collected and the identifiers below are never created.

NameDetails
funtler.aid
Type: Local storage (first-party)
Expiry: Until you withdraw consent or clear it
Purpose: A random identifier for this browser. It lets us recognise the same device across visits so your recommendations improve over time. It is not linked to your name or email unless you sign in, and it is never shared.
funtler.sid
Type: Session storage (first-party)
Expiry: When you close the tab
Purpose: Groups everything you do in one visit, so we can tell a place you lingered on from one you scrolled straight past.

Changing your mind

You can withdraw consent at any time, and it is as easy as giving it. Withdrawing stops all further collection, deletes the identifiers from this browser, and erases the history we hold for it.

If you have an account

When you sign in, the activity from this browser is attached to your account so your recommendations carry across your devices. Deleting your account removes it. You can also ask us to erase your activity at any time without closing your account.

Third-party content

Maps are rendered from OpenStreetMap tiles and some place photos are served from Google. Loading those makes a request to the provider, which they may log. We do not embed any advertising, analytics or social media trackers.

Controlling storage in your browser

You can clear or block site data through your browser settings. Doing so will sign you out and reset your preferences, since those are stored the same way.
