The Eco-Boardwalk is a 2 m wide, 1.48 km timber deck on the seaward side of Ballyvergan Marsh, running from Claycastle to Redbarn. It is billed as Ireland's longest seafront boardwalk and takes roughly 20 minutes at an easy pace.
Cork County Council's route runs 1.9 km from Front Strand Beach through Claycastle to Redbarn, giving a direct pedestrian link from Redbarn back to Youghal town centre. It is disability-access friendly with seating interspersed along the way.
The boardwalk joins the Blue Flag beaches of Claycastle and Redbarn, so you can break the stroll with sand, a paddle or a longer beach walk.
The path opens onto a panorama of the sea and Youghal's coastline, with fresh sea air and wide views across the bay.
Plenty of benches let you rest along the route, and there is a coffee stop about halfway and another at the end of the boardwalk.
