Things to Do
Rock pools and coastal views
Explore rock pools and rock formations at the beach edges, and look out over Donegal Bay to Drumanoo Head, Inishduff Island and Muckross Head, with Slieve League and Benbulben visible on clear days.
Swim and paddle
The shallow slope into the water makes it safe for paddling and swimming, and it holds Blue Flag water-quality status. Lifeguards are on duty from June to September, 12.00 to 18.30.
A circular dune walk
A pathway through the sand dunes makes a pleasant circular walk combining the beach with the low grassy hills behind it.
Camp overnight by the dunes
In summer the council rents the field behind the dunes as a free overflow car park and allows campers, caravans and tents to stay overnight at no charge.
Plan Your Visit
- Hours: Open access all year. Beach lifeguards on duty from June until September, daily 12.00 noon to 18.30.
- Parking: Small free car park just above the beach, reached by a steep road with a short walkway/steps down to the sand; not suitable for camper vans. It can fill quickly in summer. From June to September the field behind the dunes is used as a free overflow car park, with free overnight camping allowed.
- Food: None on site — there are no cafés or changing rooms directly on the beach; Killybegs town is close by for food, shops and accommodation.
