A working artisan chocolate factory on the shores of Lough Derg where you can watch chocolatiers in action for free, then build and customise your own bar to take home — all fuelled by a legendary salted caramel hot chocolate.
Entry is free — just walk in and watch the chocolatiers tempering, moulding, and packing through the open-plan production area. What you see depends on what's happening that day: full production, bar-making demos, or behind-the-scenes work. Free tastings of whatever's in production are often offered.
Step into the production area, watch a tempering and moulding demo, then choose from a huge range of inclusions (nuts, dried fruit, caramel, sea salt, rose petals) to customise your bar. After about 20 minutes it's set, wrapped, and finished with your own personalised label. €11 — suitable for all ages. Runs Monday–Saturday, 11am–3:30pm.
The premium 60-minute experience: craft two bespoke chocolate bars from scratch using the factory's equipment, enjoy extensive tastings, then head to the café for an Ultimate Hot Chocolate with two truffles. Held at 10am on selected Saturdays. €35 — not suitable for children under 8.
Eight varieties of decadent hot chocolate — the signature Salted Caramel is the one locals rave about. Also serves coffee, tea, and handmade chocolate treats. The café is bright, airy, and filled with the aroma of melting chocolate from the adjacent factory. Plenty of space for families and groups.
The on-site shop stocks the full range of over 80 handmade chocolate bars, boxes, fudge, hot chocolate tins, and chocolate spreads. Look out for unusual flavours like Seaweed & Lime, Chilli Kiss, and Midnight Mint. Sugar-free, dairy-free, and vegan options available.
For groups of 12 or more: a guided tour of the production area covering the bean-to-bar journey, followed by a structured chocolate tasting panel comparing different chocolates in production. 40 minutes, €16 per person. By arrangement only — book by phone or email.
