The Book of Kells Experience

See Ireland's greatest cultural treasure — a 1,200-year-old illuminated manuscript — up close in the Old Library's Treasury. Your visit continues through the breathtaking Long Room with its soaring oak shelves and the suspended Gaia globe installation, then into the Red Pavilion for three immersive digital exhibitions. Free audio guide available in 13 languages. Allow 90 minutes.

The Book of Kells Experience

Trinity Trails Guided Walking Tour

A 45-minute outdoor tour of the historic campus led by Trinity students and alumni. You'll visit Front Square, the Campanile, the Museum Building, and hear stories of famous alumni from Oscar Wilde to Bram Stoker. Rated 4.93 by over 3,200 visitors. Available in English, French, Italian, Spanish, and German.

Literary Walking Tour & Oscar Wilde Show

A newer offering combining a literary-themed campus tour following in the footsteps of Wilde, Beckett, Eavan Boland, and Sally Rooney, plus a 60-minute live theatre show, Oscar Unwritten, at the on-campus Samuel Beckett Theatre. Runs seasonally.

Eat & Drink on Campus

Six cafés and restaurants dot the campus: grab a barista coffee and pastry at The Perch Café (open daily 8am–4pm), enjoy a full breakfast or hot lunch at The Buttery (weekdays), or dine at the elegant 1592 restaurant for a seasonal Irish lunch (Mon–Fri). The Dining Hall serves lunch in a spectacular 18th-century setting during term time.

Douglas Hyde Gallery of Contemporary Art

A free, cutting-edge contemporary art space just steps from the Old Library. Open Wednesday to Sunday, showcasing Irish and international artists in a striking gallery setting. Admission is always free.

  • Hours: Book of Kells Experience: Mon–Thu 8:30am–6:30pm, Fri–Sat 8:30am–7pm, Sun 9am–6:30pm. Trinity Trails tours: daily 9am–5pm. Douglas Hyde Gallery: Wed 12–5pm, Thu 12–6pm, Fri–Sun 12–5pm, Mon–Tue closed. Campus grounds are generally open to pedestrians during daylight hours.
  • Admission: Book of Kells Experience from €26 (self-guided), Book of Kells & Old Library only from €19, Trinity Trails tour from €18, combined Trinity Trails + Book of Kells Experience bundle from €39 (save €5).
  • Parking: No visitor parking is available on campus. Blue badge holders may park in marked disabled bays via Lincoln Gate (subject to availability). Nearest public car park: Q-Park Setanta, a short walk away. Overnight guests can email [email protected] to request limited on-campus parking.
