Walk the six-mile strand
Rossbeigh is a low sand peninsula running out toward Castlemaine Harbour, roughly six miles (9.5 km) of beach that widens and shrinks dramatically with the tide. It is flat, open and easy walking in either direction.

Things to Do
Walk from Glenbeigh village
A signposted 2.5 km walk links the village to the beach and forms part of the Kerry Way. Dogs are not allowed on this section, though the beach itself is dog-friendly.
Bring the family
A playground, tennis courts and picnic spots sit by the beach, so there is plenty to keep children busy between swims.
Swim in Blue Flag water
The beach holds a Blue Flag award for water quality, and the bathing season is lifeguarded. The exposed Atlantic position also makes it a spot for surfing and paddling.
Ride along the water's edge
Rossbeigh Beach Riding Centre (beachtrek.ie) sits a stone's throw from the sand and takes riders of all levels along the beach and the surrounding country roads.
Catch the Glenbeigh Races
Horse and pony races are run on the sand at the annual Glenbeigh Festival & Races, usually around the first weekend in September. It is free and family-friendly, with live music, a dog show and a fancy-dress parade in the village.
Eat overlooking the bay
Rosspoint Bar & Restaurant looks straight over the beach toward the Dingle Peninsula and the Slieve Mish mountains, serving locally sourced fish, shellfish and meat, with a sauna on site.
Watch the wildlife
The strand lies inside the Castlemaine Harbour Special Area of Conservation and a Special Protection Area, with dunes, saltmarsh and coastal birdlife to look out for.

- Parking: Beach car park accommodating more than 100 cars, with space for five HGVs at the north end of the beach.
- Food: Rosspoint Bar & Restaurant sits directly above Rossbeigh beach, open seven days with local fish, shellfish and meats. Glenbeigh village, about 5 minutes away, adds the Glenbeigh Hotel (food 1pm-9pm daily), Emilie's wood-fired bakery and cafe, and Jack's Coastguard Restaurant at Cromane.
