A 5km sand spit stretching into Dingle Bay with reliable Atlantic surf, Blue Flag waters, and sweeping views of the Iveragh Peninsula — featured in David Lean's <em>Ryan's Daughter</em>.
Inch is one of Ireland's most consistent surf spots. Kingdom Waves Surf School runs group lessons, private coaching, and board/wetsuit hire right on the beach. Kite-surfing and wind-surfing are also popular, especially in spring. The southern end is calmer for stand-up paddleboarding.
At low tide the beach opens into a vast firm-sand flat — you can walk the full 5km without turning back. For a postcard-worthy panorama, drive up to the small viewpoint just beyond the main car park, which frames the entire spit against the distant Iveragh hills.
A Blue Flag beach with lifeguards on duty during the summer bathing season (roughly May–September, 10am–5pm). Red-and-yellow flags mark the safest swim zones. The Atlantic stays cool even in summer — quick dips then warming up on the sand is the way to go.
The dune system behind the beach is a protected habitat. Look for oystercatchers, curlews, and wintering waders along the tide line. Grey seals are regularly spotted basking on the sand or riding the swells close to shore.
Bothán na Mara ('hut of the sea') is a sauna parked right at Inch Beach. Book a 45-minute shared or private session, then cool off with a dip in the Atlantic. A uniquely Irish way to warm up after surfing.
The Dingle Way long-distance trail runs alongside the beach. One popular section — Camp to Annascaul (17km, 4–6 hours) — passes through the Emlagh River valley with views of the Slieve Mish Mountains.
