Walk the forest tracks
A network of forest roads and tracks runs through the mature oak and beech, mixing woodland with harbour glimpses. The waymarked loop is about 4.3 km and rated easy, taking roughly an hour.

About
A quiet old oak-and-beech wood on the south-east of Great Island, where forest tracks drop through the trees to a stony shore with wide views across Cork Harbour.
Things to Do
Drop down to the stony shoreline
The trails descend to a rocky beach on Cork Harbour with views towards Rostellan, Whitegate, Spike Island and Crosshaven. Nearly all the walking is downhill to the water, so save energy for the climb back to the car park.
Scenic drive along Great Island
Coillte calls the coastal drive along Great Island, passing Belvelly tower house on the way to the wood, 'stop the car' gorgeous.
Picnic and nature spotting
There is a picnic site on site. Down at the eastern shoreline, look out for the impressive stand of Monterey pine.
