Walk the forest loop
Forest roads and tracks make a gentle loop of about 4.3 km (roughly 1 hour, graded easy) through mature oak, beech and Monterey pine. Some sections get muddy after rain.

A quiet, old-world forest on Great Island where an easy loop trail drops down through oak and beech to a stony beach with wide-open Cork Harbour views.
Forest roads and tracks make a gentle loop of about 4.3 km (roughly 1 hour, graded easy) through mature oak, beech and Monterey pine. Some sections get muddy after rain.

The trail ends at a shoreline strand with calm water, smooth stones made for skimming and wide views across Cork Harbour towards East Ferry, Whitegate, Spike Island and Crosshaven.

There is a picnic site beside the car park, with benches among the trees — a quiet spot to eat before or after the walk.
The coastal approach from Cobh, passing Belvelly tower house, is worth the drive in itself — Coillte calls it 'stop the car' gorgeous.
