The highest point on Valentia Island, where a private road climbs to 360° views over the Skelligs, Dingle Bay and the Kerry mountains — with 180 m sea cliffs and a cliff-top viewing deck on the way.
Geokaun is Valentia Island's highest point, reached by a 1,200 m roadway from the public road. There are four car parks on the way up, including at the top, so visitors who stay in the car still get the panorama: Dingle Bay, the Skellig Islands, the Blasket Islands and the Kerry mountains.
On the mountain's northern face the Fogher Cliffs fall almost vertically about 180 m to the Atlantic. Park at the cliff car park and take the short, flat 150 m path to the viewing deck, which the owners describe as completely safe for children.
A 1.5 km loop circles the mountain in roughly 30–40 minutes, with two shorter trails to Miner's View and the cliff viewing deck. Paths are well maintained but the site is exposed, so bring a windproof layer.
Over 50 panels scattered around the site cover local history, folklore, wildlife, sea birds and the Skellig Islands, turning the viewpoints into a self-guided tour of the area.
Several picnic tables sit at various spots around the site — check the large map near the entrance to find them. There is also a Wild Atlantic Way sign near the summit for a photo.
