Two waymarked walking trails
The Gazebo Loop (1.5km, about 30 mins) climbs to the top of the hill, while the Terrace Loop (2.2km, about 50 mins) circles the perimeter of the wood. Both are rated moderate and can be walked in under an hour.

About
A compact 35-hectare Coillte woodland on a hill jutting into Cork Harbour, laced with Victorian carriage paths and crowned by a Bronze Age cairn and a hilltop gazebo.
Things to Do
The Giant's Grave and gazebo
At the summit you'll find the 'Giant's Grave', a Bronze Age burial cairn (circa 1500 BC) excavated in 1932, beside a gazebo or summer house. The views take in the harbour, Camden Fort Meagher and Crosshaven.
Waterfront stretch and Curraghbinny Pier
Part of the walk runs along the shore before climbing the hill. Drive or walk the extra kilometre past the entrance down to Curraghbinny Pier, where a fine late-19th-century terrace of houses faces Crosshaven across the Owenboy River.
Picnicking and nature watching
There's a picnic site on the wood, plus a surprising mix of mature and ornamental trees from its days as a gentry pleasure ground. Birdwatchers can scan Cork Harbour's Special Protection Area from the wood.
Fishing from the pier
Fishing is possible off Curraghbinny Pier; check locally for permits and licences before you go.

- Hours: Open all day, every day (24 hours). Best walked in daylight.
- Admission: Free entry
- Parking: Free car park at the woods entrance (Coillte-listed facility); a paid car park is also recorded in the area. No public transport serves the wood.
- Food: No food or drink on site. Cafes, pubs and shops are about 2km away in Crosshaven, with more choice in Carrigaline.
