About

A 90-minute cruise aboard the Connemara Lady through Ireland's only glacial fjord, wedged between the Twelve Bens and Mweelrea mountain — with a pod of resident dolphins often racing the bow.

Things to Do

90-Minute Scenic Cruise

The main event. Board the catamaran Connemara Lady at Nancy's Point and cruise 14 km west to the mouth of the fjord, where the sheltered waters meet the Atlantic. A live English commentary covers geology, local history, and mythology — from glacial carving to the tale of Diarmuid and Gráinne. The return leg is a leisurely 45-minute cruise back. Outside decks are covered; a cosy indoor cabin with panoramic windows keeps things comfortable in wet weather.

Dolphin & Wildlife Spotting

At the furthest point of the tour, near Fox Rock (InishBarna), keep your eyes peeled for the resident pod of bottlenose dolphins. They often leap alongside the boat and surf the bow wave — sightings are common in summer though never guaranteed. You may also spot seals hunting along the shoreline, otters on the southern bank, and seabirds unique to North Connemara.

Onboard Café, Bar & Seafood

The fully licensed café serves locally sourced Killary mussels in white wine (€14.50), smoked salmon on soda bread, toasted sandwiches, and fresh scones with cream. The bar pours draught Guinness, Connemara Lager, craft beers, wine, and their famous Irish coffee. Hot drinks range from €3.00–€4.00.

Kids' Captain Experience

Children are invited into the wheelhouse to meet the skipper and take the helm — they'll leave with a personalised Captain's Certificate. Colouring sheets featuring the Connemara Lady keep younger ones entertained, and there's an art competition in summer.

Aquaculture & Working Fjord

The cruise passes close to the fjord's mussel ropes and circular salmon farms. You'll see working boats tending some of Ireland's finest seafood — the very mussels and salmon served in the onboard café.
