Choo Choo Fun Days
Every Wednesday and Sunday in July and August, meet the Teddy Bears at the station before your journey, shake their hands and have a photo taken.
Walk or cycle the Waterford Greenway
The 46km off-road trail from Waterford to Dungarvan runs alongside the railway for 10km. You can combine a train trip with a Greenway walk or cycle from Bilberry, Carriganore or Killotteran.
Ride the narrow-gauge train
A restored heritage train leaves Kilmeadan Station on the hour for a 40-minute return trip (50 minutes on Saturdays, when it runs 2km further through the Dan Donovan Tunnel). It travels at a leisurely 16km per hour along the banks of the River Suir, past the Waterford Greenway.
Kilmeadan Station and the Story of Rail
The 1870s station, derelict after the line closed to passengers in 1967, was restored and reopened in 2003. Collect your ticket from the carriage ticket office, then read the storyboards charting Waterford's railway heritage.
Mount Congreve Gardens
The line runs past one of the great gardens of the world, with over 70 acres of woodland garden, 4 acres of walled garden and 16km of paths. Ask about disembarking at the Mount Congreve platform (tickets sold separately).

- Hours: Seasonal. 28 Mar–30 Apr and 1–30 Sept: Mon–Sun 11am–3pm. 1 May–31 Aug: Mon–Sun 11am–4pm. Trains depart on the hour.
- Admission: Adults €14.00, children €6.00, senior/student €12.00
- Parking: Free car park at Kilmeadan Station, on the left as you approach on the R680.
- Food: The Whistlestop Café at Kilmeadan Station serves light snacks, refreshments, ice cream and home-baked treats, with indoor and outdoor picnic tables.
