A free contemporary art centre in a converted 1863 model school on Sligo's Mall, and the home of the Niland Collection and its core of Jack B. Yeats paintings.
Sligo's municipal art collection began with five Jack B. Yeats paintings bought for the 1960 Yeats Summer School, including The Funeral of Harry Boland and An Island Funeral. It now also holds John B. Yeats, Paul Henry, Sean Keating and Louis le Brocquy.
The Model pairs the historic collection with an urgent, experimental contemporary programme that has tackled climate action, migration and representation, plus new commissions by living artists.

A weekly series of Irish and international independent film is programmed with Sligo Film Society, one of Ireland's longest-established film clubs; screenings cost around €11, or €9 for students.
The music programme mixes contemporary and classical work with partners such as Con Brio and the Sligo Baroque Orchestra, and the year peaks in September with the Adaptation Film Festival and Sligo Baroque Music Festival.
The café sits on the Mall side of the building and opens from 8.30am Monday to Friday; the ground-floor gallery shop stocks during normal gallery hours.
There is an extensive education programme for children and adults, including guided tours for schools and colleges from September to June and online Make & Create activities.
