A Blue Flag strand on Sligo Bay where three beaches curve below Benbulben and the Dartry Mountains, with a much-loved tidal-pool swim spot in the village.
Rosses Point has three strands. The First Beach, closest to the village, is the busiest and has the car park; the Second Beach is a quieter kilometre of sand reached by ramps from the main car park; the Third Beach is the most secluded and unpatrolled. The beach is best explored at low tide.
On Rosses Upper road, this tidal pool has stone steps into the water and sheltering walls, making it a favourite spot for a dip. Watch for strong currents at the headland past the sailing club.
Two wood-fired outdoor saunas overlook the water and can reach 90°C, with a cold plunge pool and the tidal pool just a few steps away.
The 4km Rosses Point Coastal Walk loops from the Church of Ireland along the promenade, passing the pier, the Lady Waiting on the Shore monument, Elsinore House ruins and the Metal Man statue — around an hour.
Rosses Upper has The Driftwood for pit-smoked barbecue and seafood, Austies Pub and Kitchen for fish pie and wings, and the Little Cottage Café for scones, coffee and takeaway from its hatch.
At low tide you can walk or drive the 5km causeway from Rosses Point to Coney Island, home to ancient hill forts, stone circles and St Patrick's wishing chair.
Steady breezes across Sligo Bay make Rosses Point a good base for windsurfing, kitesurfing, stand-up paddleboarding and sea kayaking.
