A working pewter workshop on the N4 near Mullingar — Ireland's only pewter production, open for free self-guided tours, with a well-loved café and gift gallery attached.
Watch casting, turning, assembly and delicate hand-finishing done by the 30 local artisans who have kept this craft alive since 1974. Tours run when staffing allows, Monday to Thursday 9:30am-4:00pm and Friday 9:30am-2:30pm; call ahead to check availability, as the workshop is closed at weekends. Admission is free.
The gift gallery carries the full Mullingar Pewter range — tankards, goblets, chess sets, picture frames, jewellery, hip flasks and pocket watches — much of it inspired by Claddagh and Book of Kells motifs, alongside a general home and gift store. Free gift wrapping.
A local favourite for all-day breakfast, scones, paninis, soups, quiche, salads, burgers and curries, plus freshly baked breads and afternoon tea. Open Monday to Saturday 9:30am-5pm (last food orders 4:30pm) and Sunday 10am-4pm (last food orders 3:30pm).
