About
One of Ireland's most accessible racecourses, built at Greenmount Park near Patrickswell and staging both Flat and National Hunt racing all year round, with a 1790 racing heritage behind it.
Things to Do
Spend a day at the races
Buy a racecard on arrival, then follow the rhythm of the day: the Parade Ring about 20 minutes before each race, the Winners' Enclosure, and the Weighing Room. Races run from late morning to early evening depending on the season.
Dine in the Panoramic Restaurant
Set in the Greenmount Suite on the second floor, the Panoramic overlooks the home straight with its own balcony. Hospitality packages include reserved seating, admission and racecard and a three-course menu.
Have a bet
Tote and touch-tote facilities are on every level of the Hugh McMahon Stand, Ladbrokes is in the Tote Hall and Munster Suite, and bookmakers' pitches fill the Bookies Ring to the right of the stand.
Bring the family
There is an on-site playground open all year round, with free entertainment on selected race dates. Children are allowed in licensed premises until 9pm (10pm in summer) with a parent or guardian.
Trace the heritage
Racing here goes back to 1790 across seven earlier Limerick venues, including Greenpark, where JFK spoke and Pope John Paul II said mass. The Patrickswell track opened in 2001 to a crowd of over 18,000.
Plan Your Visit
- Hours: Racedays only: turnstiles open approximately two hours before the first race, and it is advisable to arrive at least an hour before the advertised first-race time (an hour before if dining). Otherwise the venue operates all year round for events and hire.
- Parking: Free on-site parking with facilities for circa 3,000 cars; reserved parking and ramp access are provided for disabled visitors.
- Food: A variety of dining options to suit every pocket, from the Panoramic Restaurant's three-course menu and balcony to bars and food outlets around the grandstand, the Munster Suite and private suites. There is no ATM on site, but cash back is available in the Munster Suite.
