A 13th-century Cistercian abbey ruin on Wexford's Hook Peninsula, paired with one of Ireland's only two full-size yew hedge mazes, a pitch-and-putt course, craft shop and tearooms. You collect the key from the visitor centre to unlock the abbey yourself.
Dunbrody was founded in 1170 and completed in 1220; at 59 metres it is one of Ireland's longest abbeys. Much of the 13th-century church, cloisters, chapter house and refectory survive. Buy your ticket at reception to collect the key and let yourself through the gate.
Navigate 1,500 towering yew hedges and over 2 km of gravel paths to a central viewing tower, which gives sweeping views over the abbey and countryside. One of only two full-size mazes in the Republic of Ireland.
A well-maintained 9-hole course beside the maze, with no booking needed — clubs are hired at the shop (first two free, then €1 each). The ruins of unfinished 17th-century Dunbrody Castle stand alongside.
Housed at the rear of Dunbrody Castle, the shop showcases local crafts — jewellery, glass, candles and woodware — with a small museum centred on a 1950s miniature doll's house of the castle.
Set in the 19th-century castle stables, the café serves Italian-roasted coffee, homemade scones and cakes, toasted sandwiches, soup and charcuterie platters. Courtyard and covered outdoor seating welcome dogs.
