The boat leaves Donegal Town pier, a 500m walk from the centre of town at the Diamond, on a 75-minute loop around the seven Green Islands. Choose the air-conditioned lower lounge or the open-topped upper deck for the best views.
Get close to the 200-strong seal colony on Seal Island, which can only be reached by boat and is tide dependent. The bay also draws cormorants, cranes, ducks, swans and oyster catchers.
Along the way you pass the Old Abbey, where the Annals of the Four Masters were compiled, the burial place of Red Hugh O'Donnell with his bronze statue on the quayside, the Hassans famine embarkation point, and the old White Star Line booking office.
A fully stocked bar serves wines, spirits and beers, which you can take up to the open deck or enjoy on the cushioned seats below. There is no food service on board.
The boat carries around 140 passengers, has restrooms on board and is wheelchair accessible. The ride is deliberately smooth, so families and coach groups travel comfortably.
