The star of the show is Drumboe, the famous red and black steam engine built in 1907 and the only original Donegal steam engine on display. You can climb inside Donegal's only surviving 120-year-old engine.

Drive the Interactive Railway Cab
Ireland's first full-size interactive railway cab lets you climb inside the cab and try the controls — a recent installation and a hit with kids big and small.
Ride the Ride-on Train
Weather permitting, take a ride on the small ride-on train running down the original Donegal Town Railway platform outside the station house.
Explore the Working Model Layouts
A selection of operational model railways includes the famous large layout by modeller and painter George Hanna — a magnet for train lovers of all ages.
Listen to the Audio Installations
Two audio installations play actual recordings of people who travelled on the Donegal railways, and a vintage cine-film presentation captures trains in the 1950s.

- Hours: Monday–Saturday 10:00–17:00; Sunday 12:00–16:00 (April–September, or by appointment). Viewings outside normal hours can be arranged by phone (074) 9722655 or email.
- Admission: Adults €7.50, seniors/students €6, children €5, family €16
- Parking: Free car park at the John Bosco Centre next door to the museum; disabled parking directly outside. Bus parking can be arranged onsite with advance notice. Some paid street parking nearby.
- Food: On-site coffee hut The Weighbridge (coffee, tea, tray bakes). Donegal Town centre, 300m away, has a wider choice of cafés and restaurants.
