A free roadside viewpoint at the top of Coomanaspig Pass, 248 m above the Atlantic on the Skellig Ring, with sweeping views over Portmagee, Valentia Island, Dingle Bay and the Skellig Islands.
Pull over at the Wild Atlantic Way Discovery Point on top of the pass. On a clear day you can see Valentia Island just past Portmagee, the Dingle Peninsula behind it, and the Skellig Islands beyond St. Finian's Bay — rolling green hills meeting crashing waves far below.
At 797 ft (248 m), Coomanaspig is one of the highest points in Ireland reachable by car, and the ascent and descent on both sides are steep and adventurous. It is a popular challenge for cyclists on the Skellig Ring.
The road down from the pass runs through patchwork green fields with the Atlantic on the horizon — a classic photo moment. The Kerry Cliffs entrance is on the way down, and Portmagee village is about 4.5 km away.
The Skellig Ring lies inside the Kerry International Dark Sky Reserve, one of only a few Gold Tier reserves in the world. On a clear night the pass offers an elevated, light-free spot for Milky Way viewing.
