Beneath a wild Mayo blanket bog lies the most extensive Stone Age monument in the world — almost 6,000-year-old stone-walled fields, with an award-winning visitor centre and a cliff-edge viewing platform above the Atlantic.
A viewing platform hangs on the edge of the 110-metre cliff above the ocean, with dramatic rock formations behind. If the weather is too challenging, watch the seascape from the centre's glass rooftop instead. Bring protective clothing and sturdy footwear.
The blanket bog is home to hare, frog, lizard and the skylark overhead. Look for milkworts in spring, white bog cotton and purple orchids in early summer, insect-eating sundews and orange asphodels in summer, then purple heathers and copper sedges in autumn.

Two floors of hands-on exhibits: try replica Neolithic clothing, a 3D hologram, animal skins and a quernstone for grinding grain, and hear Seamus Heaney reading his poem Belderg. The 360-degree immersive theatre plays a six-minute film automatically every ten minutes.
A striking modern building set against the cliffs, with reception, café, toilets and exhibition space over two floors. A lift reaches the first floor and the centre is wheelchair accessible.
