About
A rare Irish tidal pool on the edge of Blacksod Bay, filled by high tide and free to use all year. It's a 20-metre basin with a toddler's section, ladders at both ends and wide views over the water.

Relax on the poolside terrace
A level concrete area gives space to sit and watch the water, with magnificent views over Blacksod Bay.
Swim in the tidal pool
An approximately 20 m pool fed by high-tide seawater, with a gentle shallow-to-deep slope and ladders at each end. Expect a bracing Atlantic dip.
Join the summer swimming lessons
Lifeguards patrol only in July and August, when swimming and sea-safety lessons for children run. Check the local Facebook page for times the pool is in use.
Warm up at Sona Sauna
A sauna sits directly across the road from the pool, a popular post-swim warm-up.
Walk out from town
Head down Belmullet's main street to the harbour, turn right onto Shore Road and continue 800 m; the pool is a 12-minute walk from the centre.

- Hours: Open all year round with no fixed gates — the pool is filled by the tide. Lifeguards are on duty only during July and August.
- Admission: Free — no admission charge
- Parking: Free car park on Shore Road, reserved for pool users only, about 20 m from the water. Belmullet town centre has ample parking and is a 12-minute walk away.
- Food: No café or shop on site. Sona Sauna is directly across the road, and Belmullet town centre, a 12-minute walk, has the nearest cafés, pubs and restaurants.
