A 2km golden strand at the north end of Bundoran and Donegal's first Wild Atlantic Way Discovery Point — Ireland's best beginner surf beach, with blowholes and a wishing chair at its southern end.
At the southern end, natural blow holes in the cliffs crash water upwards under the right tidal conditions; locals once believed them haunted by fairies. Sit slowly in the Wishing Chair, pause 15 seconds, make a silent wish and tap the seat twice as you rise.
Tullan is one of Ireland's best surf beaches: voted by Red Bull in 2016 as the country's best beginner surf beach. Several surf schools operate at the beach and boards can be rented, so you can book a lesson with wetsuit and transport included.
The strand runs for 2km from the north end of Bundoran to the Erne Estuary at Ballyshannon, backed by dunes and the Sligo-Leitrim mountains. It is superb for beach walking; reach it on a short, fairly steep rough path from the car park.
This circular cliff walk starts at Tullan Strand and returns into town past Aughrus Point, a WWII EIRE sign, fossils 300 million years old and the old 'Dancing by the Sea' platform. Ring buoys are placed along the route.
A monument near the cliffs remembers ten Canadian airmen of 518 Squadron whose Halifax hit the cliffs in 1944. Before you leave, photograph the Tullan Strand Discovery Point sign — Wild Atlantic Way passports can be stamped at Bundoran Post Office.
