A hands-on, multi-media exhibition in the heart of Enniscorthy that brings the 1798 Irish Rebellion to life, from the age of revolution to the bloody Battle of Vinegar Hill.
Things to Do
Guided Tours
Knowledgeable guides give an in-depth look at the rebellion and its aftermath on weekend guided tours; the FAQs list Saturday and Sunday at 2pm while the tours page lists 13.30 and 15.00, so confirm times when booking. Groups of 10 or more can pre-book a tour.
Vinegar Hill
The site of the battle is a short drive away, with a free car park, a memorial plinth, and a paved walk to the ruined stone windmill and wide views over Enniscorthy and the River Slaney.
Vinegar Hill Battle Room
An immersive re-enactment room recreates the feel of the Battle of Vinegar Hill, where some 20,000 insurgents faced 10,000 Crown Forces. Expect loud noises and flashing lights.
Cafe 98
An on-site cafe serving breakfast, lunch and sweet treats made with local Wexford produce. Open Monday-Friday 9am-4.30pm (kitchen closes 3pm) and Saturday 10am-3pm.
Enniscorthy Castle
A sister site in the town, exploring 800 years of history, and a natural second stop on the 1798 trail. Guided tours of the castle and Vinegar Hill can be arranged through the centre.
Visiting with Children
Children of all ages are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult; some parts of the exhibition may be overwhelming for younger visitors. A baby changing facility is available.
Special Events and Online Tour
The centre runs talks, workshops and events such as Culture Night, and offers an online guided tour via subscription for those who cannot visit in person.

- Parking: Free parking on site for cars and coaches.
- Food: Cafe 98 serves fresh, homemade and locally sourced food (pastries, sandwiches, salads, hot lunches) on site, plus set menus for groups of 10-30.
