Things to Do
Rooftop Battlements
Climb to the rooftop for panoramic views over Enniscorthy town, the River Slaney valley, and Vinegar Hill — site of the bloodiest battle of the 1798 Rebellion.
The Swordsman in the Dungeon
Descend to the dungeon to see a rare piece of medieval graffiti — a near life-size figure of a swordsman, likely incised by a prisoner in the late 16th century.
Eileen Gray Permanent Exhibition
Discover the life and work of the iconic modernist architect and designer, born near Enniscorthy. The exhibition features her furniture designs including the famous Bibendum chair. One of only two permanent displays of her work in Ireland.
'The Waters of Wexford' Exhibition
A temporary exhibition running until October 2026 exploring maritime history: goddesses, pirates, shipwrecks, the RNLI, and river life on the Slaney and Barrow. Features a masthead from the shipwreck 'Pomona' and a blue whale rib bone.
Guided Tour (Weekends)
Join a knowledgeable guide on Saturdays and Sundays at 1pm and 3pm for a 45-minute tour covering the castle's long history and its inhabitants. Groups of 10+ can pre-book tours at other times.
National 1798 Rebellion Centre
Just a 10-minute walk away, this sister site brings the 1798 Rebellion to life with immersive displays. A combined Saver Ticket covers both attractions and is valid for up to 6 months. Free parking available at the Centre.

- Admission: Adults €10, concession €8, children (3–18) €6, family ticket (2 adults + up to 3 children) €30
- Parking: Paid on-street parking near the castle. Free car and coach parking at the National 1798 Rebellion Centre, a 10-minute walk away.
- Food: No café at the castle itself. Café 98 at the National 1798 Rebellion Centre (10-minute walk) serves local, seasonal food 7 days a week — breakfast and lunch Mon–Fri, sweet treats at weekends. Enniscorthy town centre has hotels, cafés, and restaurants within a short walk.
