About

A community-run nature park with lakeside walkways, woodlands, and abundant wildlife — an ideal family day out in the Louth countryside.

Things to Do

Nature Walk & Wildlife Pond

Stroll the lakeside loop past 18 educational interpretative boards. The five-acre site hosts 57+ species of trees and shrubs, over 47 bird species, plus butterflies and insects. Ducks and swans are resident year-round — bring sweetcorn, oats or peas instead of bread if you want to feed them.

Agnes Burns Cottage

This 19th-century cottage was home to Agnes Burns, sister of Scotland's national poet Robert Burns. Her husband William Galt built the pond for the Fortescue estate in 1817. The cottage now houses the C&A Coffee Dock, and the couple's story is told on-site.

Coarse Fishing

The pond is stocked with coarse fish (average depth ~2m, max 3.25m) and has dedicated fishing decks. Day tickets are available from the coffee dock.
