Walk the Moore Hall loop
A waymarked loop (red arrows) follows forest roads out to the ruined house and old walled garden before circling back to the car park. It is an easy, well-surfaced walk of roughly 2-3 km; allow about 1.5 hours.

Things to Do
Explore the ruined Moore Hall House
Built between 1792 and 1796 for wine merchant George Moore and burned during the Civil War, the house is now an atmospheric roofless shell. The neo-classical front, empty windows and the family motto still stand; the interior itself is locked.
Wooden animal sculptures
The trails are animated by carvings of native animals, including a fox, which make the walk engaging for children.
Walled garden and servants' tunnel
The route passes the old walled garden, where conservation work has been ongoing, and the path that once led to the servants' tunnel connecting the house to the kitchen garden and farmyard.
Lough Carra shoreline and picnic
Good views of Lough Carra open up from the shore across the road from the car park, a peaceful spot for a picnic or a paddle.
