A family play farm near Moycullen with a huge indoor playbarn, acres of outdoor adventure, friendly farm animals and seasonal events like the pumpkin patch — all set against a Connemara backdrop, 20 minutes from Galway city.
Over 12,000 sq ft of indoor play with a mega play structure built for adults and children alike, including a famous drop slide, a didi car track, two skittle lanes and a soft-play zone for under-5s. The indoor play village has a teddy bears' hospital and fire station. Socks must be worn on the play structure.
Outdoor areas include a zip wire, pedal go-karts, Happy Hopperz, a nest swing, two handmade timber play villages, giant sandpits (one covered), mini golf, a straw bale maze and timber obstacle courses, all with a scenic Connemara backdrop.
Loughwell is mainly a play park, but it keeps kune kune pigs, miniature ponies, sheep, goats, deer, alpacas, donkeys, rabbits and chickens. A daily animal activity schedule lets you hand-feed the alpacas, hold rabbits and meet the goats under staff supervision.
The Elderflower Restaurant inside the playbarn serves homemade meals, snacks, sandwiches, soups, cakes and hot and cold drinks. You can also bring your own picnic to eat in the marquee or outdoor picnic areas (not in the main playbarn).
The farm runs special ticketed events through the year: a pumpkin patch in autumn, Santa and Santa Paws experiences in winter, a Spooky Fest and Easter activities. These book out, so reserve early.
