About
A large, family-run mountain sheep farm on the N71 at Moll's Gap, where working sheepdogs, hundreds of ewes and a famous Kerry panorama do the talking. Open to visitors since 2005, and no booking is needed.
Things to Do
Sheep Dog Demonstrations
The heart of a visit: shepherds put their working dogs through their paces gathering and moving the flock on the mountain. Demos run on scheduled days only and times change daily - often 12:00 and 16:00, sometimes a single slot. Arrive 10 to 15 minutes early.
Summer Sheep Shearing
During the summer the farm adds a sheep shearing demonstration alongside the dog demos, showing how the flock is clipped.
Moll's Gap and the N71 Drive
The farm straddles the N71 between Kenmare and Killarney National Park, with the Moll's Gap panorama in the middle of its land. Approaching from Killarney you pass Ladies View first; allow time for the scenery itself.
Avoca Shop and Cafe
The Avoca shop and cafe at Moll's Gap sits in the centre of the farm, an easy stop for coffee or shopping before or after a demonstration.
Plan Your Visit
- Hours: No fixed daily hours: the farm is open to the public for scheduled sheep dog demonstrations only, and times change day to day (for example 12:00 and 16:00, or a single demo between 11:30 and 16:00). Check the online calendar before travelling; the farm is open on some Sundays.
- Admission: An entrance fee is charged and paid at reception by cash or credit card; the amount is not published on the farm's website.
- Food: Avoca shop and cafe at Moll's Gap, standing in the centre of the farm.
