About

Festival Play Park is Buncrana's shorefront playground on Lough Swilly, with fenced play areas for toddlers and older kids, a zip line, tennis court and football pitch, and the Buncrana Heritage Trail starting at its gate.

Things to Do

Two play areas for all ages

The park is split into two fenced zones, one for children up to 6 and one for 6-12 year olds, with soft flooring, swings, slides, ropes and climbing equipment. Benches line the edges so adults can watch while the kids burn off energy.

Shorefront walks and sea views

The park sits on the shore of Lough Swilly with views across to Ladies Bay beach. The tarmacked coastal walkway runs past the park towards Neds Point and is pushchair and wheelchair friendly.

Zip line, tennis and football

Beyond the playground, the Shore Green has a zip line plus a tennis court and football pitch, giving older children and teens plenty to do alongside the play equipment.

Picnic on the green

Picnic tables and benches make it easy to settle in for lunch with a sea view. An ice cream van and a coffee wagon are often parked nearby, and public toilets are right beside the green.

Start of the Buncrana Heritage Trail

The park marks the beginning of the town's heritage trail, which leads past the ruins of Buncrana Castle and O'Doherty's Keep. A bronze statue of Thomas 'Tip' O'Neill stands nearby, and a navigation beacon sits on the green.
