A moderately challenging 6 km loop (purple arrows, ~1 hr 40 min). Takes in woods on both sides of the river, with a road section crossing Colligan Bridge before ascending around Greenane Hill. Sweeping views from the higher sections.

Picnic tables and benches are scattered near the trailhead, right by the Colligan River. A lovely spot to sit, listen to the water, and watch for dippers and kingfishers.

The river is a salmon-spawning stream with sea trout also present. In the woods, look out for red squirrels, foxes, badgers, otters, stoats, and fallow deer. Bluebells carpet the forest floor in spring.

The fast-flowing Colligan River holds salmon and trout. Enquire locally in Dungarvan about fishing permits and licences.
