About

A family-run exotic garden on the Glengarriff coast, where 30 species of bamboo grow alongside palms and tree ferns, with paths leading down to a private beach and views over the harbour.

Things to Do

Walk the bamboo groves

Thirty species of bamboo, many of them giant, grow along romantic paths together with palms, tree ferns and other tropical plants that thrive in Glengarriff's mild Gulf Stream climate.

Hunt out the stone pillars

Thirteen mysterious stone pillars of unknown age and origin stand in the garden. Parts of the grounds date to Lady Ardilaun's early-1900s garden, while the modern bamboo areas were created in 1999.

Shoreline walks and sea views

Paths wind down to the shoreline with lookout points over Glengarriff Harbour and Garnish Island, plus access to a private beach where you may spot seals in the bay.

Picnic and relax in a gazebo

Many gazebos are scattered through the park for quiet moments, and there is a picnic area for families. Buggy-friendly paths make it easy to explore with small children.

Tea, cake and plant sales

The on-site coffee shop serves tea, coffee and homemade cakes on a sunny terrace. There is also a small souvenir shop and bamboos, palms and tree ferns for sale.
