Things to Do
Guided tour of the Victorian house
The Victorian house, reworked in the 1830s by architect Daniel Robertson, is shown on guided tours at an additional cost, running on selected dates, typically Sundays in peak season. Ring 053 9186737 to confirm availability.
Mogue's Enchanted Woodland Walk
The estate's 480 acres include long woodland trails lined with life-size carved dragons and trolls. Allow an hour or more to walk them properly.
Formal gardens and arboretum
Robertson's 1835-1838 landscape scheme survives as terrace gardens, a radiating parterre, a walled garden and an arboretum, progressively restored from the original plans.
Adventure playground and animal farm
An adventure playground and a small animal farm are both included in admission, and there are no time limits on your ticket once you are in.
Wells Express and the event calendar
A novelty train runs on event days. The year brings a May spring fair, a June bank-holiday BBQ, a Father's Day classic car show, Doggie Day Out, a Food Fest, a motorbike show and an outdoor Mamma Mia screening on 29 August 2026.
Afternoon tea in the house
Open afternoon tea events are bookable inside Wells House for tables of two or more on selected dates, including 11 October and 8 November 2026. Early booking is advised.

- Food: The main bookable on-site dining is the open afternoon tea events in Wells House on selected dates; picnic areas are provided for those bringing their own food, and self-catering guests receive a dining voucher for The Upton Court. No everyday café is advertised on the pages checked.
