Ireland's first alpaca-walking farm — a peaceful, family-run haven in the hills of West Cork where you can lead gentle alpacas along a wooded riverside trail past a spectacular waterfall.
The headline experience. Meet the female alpacas and learn about their history, then take the boys on a lead along the magical riverside trail under old oaks, past pools and cascades, to the farm's namesake waterfall. Children must be at least 7 years old to handle an alpaca. Walks cost approximately €30 per alpaca / €20 per accompanying person.
For families with children under 7 who can't join the alpaca walk. You still meet and hand-feed all the animals — alpacas, miniature donkeys, Shetland ponies, giant rabbits, and bantam hens — then explore the riverside trail at your own pace.
The farm is home to 12 alpacas plus miniature donkeys Pepe and Gomez, Shetland ponies Captain Jack and Fat Freddie, giant rabbits, bantam hens, sheep, and friendly farm cats and dogs. All visits include feeding time with the animals.
Cabin guests can freely explore the farm's loop walk along a tributary of the Ilen River. The trail winds under old oak and holly trees past pools, cascades, and a stunning waterfall with a swimming hole. Especially beautiful in bluebell season.
There is a natural rock pool at the waterfall — a bracing spot for a dip. A magical gazebo nearby makes a lovely place to sit and soak up the sounds of the river and woodland.
A cosy cabin sleeping up to 4 (double bed, two singles, sofa bed). Basic but well-equipped kitchen (cold water only, gas hob, fridge, kettle, toaster), outdoor gas shower, and a toilet a stone's throw away. Set beside a Bronze Age stone row with views of Castledonovan Castle. Picnic table and BBQ on request. From €100 per night (2-night minimum).
