The Farm, Grenagh is a 40-acre working farm experience in north Cork, 20 minutes from the city, where you milk cows, ride a barrel train, wander a 1950s village and let the kids loose in three play areas.

Three play areas, a zipwire plus pedal karts and pedal tractors keep children busy, including a combine-harvester climbing frame for small farmers.

Step into rural Ireland of the 1950s to 1970s: a pre- and post-electrification farmhouse, hardware shop, forge, working milking parlour, schoolroom and garage, with over 100 pieces of vintage machinery.

Working Farm & Farmyard Animals

Meet traditional Irish breeds: Shorthorn, Hereford and Simmental cattle, Suffolk, Texel, Charollais and Jacob sheep, Clydesdale horses Bud and Moll, donkeys, miniature ponies, Tamworth pigs, hens and ducks.

Milk the Cows & Petting Time

Try your hand at milking a cow, then join petting and feeding sessions with the smaller animals. Spring is the liveliest time, when the lambs are born.

Tractor & Barrel Rides

Take the tractor and trailer ride around the farm, or head off on the barrel train to see the fields in style.

Seasonal Events

The Easter Egg Hunt, the Autumn Harvest in early September and the October Pumpkin Patch are priced separately; Easter and Halloween events need online prebooking. Note the Christmas Wonderland will not run in 2025.

  • Hours: Farm Park 10am to 5.30pm: weekends only from 1 September to 1 April, and open 7 days in June, July and August. (A separate page lists Monday to Friday 10am to 6pm, Saturday and Sunday 10am to 5pm.) The Haystack Restaurant is open daily, 9am to 4.30pm.
  • Admission: Adults €10, children €12, under 2s free
  • Food: The Haystack Restaurant on site, open daily 9am to 4.30pm (breakfast 9am to noon, lunch 12.30pm to 4pm), serving farm-fresh traditional Irish breakfasts, light bites and homestyle roasts.
