About

The Arranmore Ferry (Blue Arranmore Ferry) links Burtonport Pier to Arranmore Island, the largest inhabited island off Donegal's coast, with up to eight sailings a day on the island-owned Arranmore Blu.

Things to Do

Cycling and e-bikes

Bicycles travel free of charge on the ferry, and e-bike hire on the island makes it easy to explore townlands, lakes, mountains and beaches at your own pace.

Guided tours, food and trad music

Arranmore Guided Tours walks you through the island's history (including the 800 BC promontory fort at Uilinn), and the island's bars and cafés serve fish and chips, stone-oven pizza and live traditional music. Festivals like Féile Róise Rua and the Country Music Festival are easy day trips by ferry.

The 15-minute crossing

The Arranmore Blu carries passengers, cars, bikes and pets on the ~15 minute run from Burtonport Pier to Arranmore Island. Sit inside or on the upper deck; dolphins are often seen alongside, and hot drinks, cold drinks and coffee are sold on board.

Arranmore Lighthouse walk

A roughly 5 km walk from the ferry pier leads to Arranmore Lighthouse with cliff and Atlantic views, picnic spots en route and steep steps down to the water (slippery when wet).

Water sports and sea stack climbing

Cumann na mBád runs kayaking, sailing and paddleboarding along the island's calm coast, while Unique Ascent offers sea stack climbing for an adrenaline hit.
