Moynalty Steam Threshing Museum keeps the sights and sounds of a bygone farming era alive in the heart of a Meath village, home each August to one of Ireland's longest-running steam and vintage festivals.
Things to Do
Museum Parkland
The museum sits in parkland in the village centre, with space to wander between displays and stalls on festival day.
Camping on Site
Campers, caravans and tents can stay on site for the festival weekend at €20 per night, up to a maximum of four nights, with a separate festival entry ticket also required.
Steam Threshing Festival
The 51st annual Moynalty Steam Threshing takes place on 8–9 August 2026 in the museum grounds. It is a whole-day country event with vintage machinery, crafts, music and food, and the museum itself opens for viewing on the day.
Steam and Vintage Displays
Horse and steam power, reaping and binding, threshing and flailing, steam traction engines, stationary engines and horse-drawn ploughs all appear in action, alongside vintage car and tractor displays.
Traditional Crafts and Forge
Watch basket weaving, steel forging, hot shoeing, tin craft, wood turning and harness making, plus a historic road-making re-enactment and chainsaw carving.
