Mayo Leisure Point is a big indoor entertainment complex in Castlebar where you can bowl, play laser tag, let younger kids loose in a three-level soft play zone, hit the arcade or catch a film in the on-site seven-screen cinema. It opens every day of the year and everything sits under one roof.
A three-level indoor adventure play area for children aged 2 to 10 with a jungle Biff'n'Box, bouncy Nokey, spiral serpent slide, ball ponds, a wobbly bridge and a dedicated under-4s section. Sessions are priced per child: €5 under 2, €6.50 for half an hour, €9 for an hour and €11–€13 for 90 minutes. A coffee is within sight of the play area.
An all-action laser game played in a purpose-built arena, suitable for ages 6 and up and playable individually or in teams, with 2 to 18 players in the arena at a time. It costs €7.50 per person for a 20-minute game, and works well for parties, school tours and corporate outings.
A refurbished seven-screen cinema attached to the complex, with stadium seating, Dolby Digital sound, 3D films and freshly made popcorn. It also screens live satellite broadcasts of operas, ballets, theatre, concerts and sport, and runs a kids club. Cinema tickets are booked separately on the cinema's own website or on 094 90 27777.
The diner overlooks the bowling lanes and is where families relax mid-visit. Hot food is cooked to order — chicken, burgers, fish, vegetarian and kids' meals — alongside homemade scones and tarts, sandwiches, wraps, toasties, ciabattas, ice creams, milkshakes, tea and coffee, with gluten-free options.
Eight Brunswick lanes with a fully computerised scoring system and automatic bumpers on every lane, so younger bowlers can join in. Prices are per lane for up to six people, from €28 for half an hour and €40 for an hour at quiet times; shoe hire is included. Glow bowling, when the house lights drop and UV lights come on, features at various times each day, and leagues run from September to May.
A games area with basketball machines, air hockey tables, driving cars, motorbikes, skill and prize-every-time cranes, plus a large selection of kiddie rides for smaller children.
The complex has run school tours for over 30 years and offers private party rooms, fully supervised outings and group packages combining activities with food such as breakfast or lunch. School groups can be accommodated on quieter weekday mornings and early afternoons, and there is ample car and bus parking.
