Visitor Centre Exhibition
Multimedia displays, facsimile artefacts, interactive touchscreens and AV presentations bring over 6,000 years of local history to life, from the Mesolithic to the medieval period.
Magical Lough Gur Trail (2.5 km)
A self-guided lakeshore walk passing The Spectacles, a medieval farming settlement over 1,000 years old, and the crannóg remains on Bolin Island. A short climb up the 110 Stone Steps gives the best panoramic views.
Legendary Lough Gur Trail (4.5 km)
A longer route on quiet country roads to Carraig Áille Stone Forts, the Giant's Grave, Knockadoon and New Church, ending at Grange Stone Circle with views across the Golden Vale.
Grange Stone Circle
Measuring roughly 45 metres in diameter, this is the largest and most complete stone circle in Ireland and the highlight of the surrounding archaeological landscape.
Woodland Coffee Kiosk
Beside the Visitor Centre, the kiosk serves barista-style coffee made with Watermark's Woodland range and treats sourced from local producers — a good pause before or after walking.
Family Day Out
Picnic benches by the water, a small playground, a little shop and accessible, well-maintained paths make Lough Gur an easy lakeside outing with children.
Plan Your Visit
- Hours: Open daily, 9:30am to 5pm. Both the Visitor Centre and the Woodland Coffee Kiosk keep the same hours.
- Admission: Visitor Centre exhibition: adult €5, child €3, senior/student €4, family €15
- Parking: Free on-site parking for cars and coaches, with clear signage guiding you to the Visitor Centre.
- Food: The Woodland Coffee Kiosk beside the Visitor Centre serves barista-style coffee and locally sourced treats. There are no cooked meals on site; Reardon's pub restaurant nearby is recommended for those.
