Cregneash is the British Isles' oldest open-air folk museum: a living 19th-century Manx crofting village of thatched cottages perched beneath Meayll Hill, overlooking the Calf of Man.
Step inside traditional Manx thatched cottages, including Harry Kelly's Cottage, a fine example of a period home, plus Crebbin's Cottage, Church Farm, Quirk's Croft, Ned Beg's Cottage (Manx language), the Joiner's Workshop, the Smithy and St Peter's Church. Entry ticket required.
From the village there are stunning walks to the Sound (spot seals), the megalithic chambered tomb at Meayll Hill, the rock formations at the Chasms and the Raad ny Foillan coastal path.
The open-air village suits children of all ages, and is one of 26 registered Dark Sky Discovery Sites on the Isle of Man for evening stargazing.
Costumed interpreters in the Farm House demonstrate weaving, knitting, spinning and other crafts in the traditional manner, and share stories of crofting life.
Wander the farm and you will likely encounter Loaghtan sheep, shorthorn cows and the village's resident Manx cat, along with many native Manx birds.
The village ticket office doubles as a gift shop and film room showing the history of Cregneash, with an exhibition room upstairs.
Refreshments sit at the heart of the village: indoor and garden seating for around 35 people, open during the summer months.
