A family-run working farm in the Laois countryside where over 100 animals, indoor go-karts, crazy golf, and a fairy garden sit in the shadow of a 15th-century castle.
Over 100 friendly animals call Castleview home, both indoors and out. Admission includes a bag of chopped carrots — hand-feed Highland cows, Sika deer, alpacas, donkeys, pygmy goats, and Kune-Kune pigs along the walking loop. Inside you'll find giant rabbits, guinea pigs, and poultry. In April and May, bottle-feed newborn lambs.
A huge indoor barn houses electric go-karts (€2 per go), a mud kitchen, sandpit, log cabins, an imagination-based play area with ride-on tractors and slides, plus indoor soccer and basketball challenges. A great wet-weather fallback.
Follow the extensive walkway to discover multiple playgrounds, a complimentary crazy golf course, a maze, a soccer pitch, and a whimsical Fairy Garden. Plenty of picnic tables are dotted along the route.
The ruins of Cullohill Castle, built around 1425 by Finghin MacGillapatrick, stand right at the farm entrance. Partially destroyed by Cromwell's forces around 1650, it's a striking backdrop and a piece of medieval history you can view up close.
A 7.5 km (4.7 mile) looped trail starts right beside the farm. Moderately challenging, it takes about 2 hours and passes a lime kiln, Cummer Well, and an ancient rath, with fine views over rural Laois.
