An 80-acre woodland adventure park on the former Wandesforde Estate, built on Castlecomer's coal-mining heritage. Home to Ireland's longest over-water zipline, high ropes courses, and family-friendly trails — all run as a not-for-profit social enterprise.
Ireland's longest zipline — 300m long, soaring 35m above woodland, two lakes and a 17th-century bridge. Pair it with the Octagon, a two-level high-ropes course of nets, rope bridges and wooden challenges. Zipline: age 12+, min height 1.35m; Octagon: age 7+, min height 1.2m. Max weight 120kg for both.
A three-level aerial adventure course with 40 games, plus a climbing wall (three routes) and a free-fall jump from the top of the Skywalk tower. Allow 2–3 hours depending on the package. Suitable for ages 7+, min height 1.2m, max weight 120kg. Closed-toe shoes essential.
A free, enchanting woodland walk filled with hand-carved toadstool mushrooms, fairy houses, a sweet shop, an underground bunker and Fairy HQ. Right beside it sits the Bluebell Playhouse — a sensory room with bean bags, textures, a swing and calming lighting (open 12–4pm seasonally). About a 7–10 minute walk from reception.
Four National Trails Association-accredited looped walks ranging from the easy 1.5km Lady's Loop (buggy-friendly) to the 5km Ardra Castle Loop. Three permanent orienteering courses (1.6km, 2.4km, 3km) are also available — pick up a map at reception for €5.
Take to the lakes with pedal boats (€18, up to 4 people), canoes (€18, up to 3 people), single kayaks (€12) or double kayaks (€14). A relaxed way to enjoy the park from a different angle.
Designed for younger children, the Junior Woodland Adventure Course uses natural rope and larch wood for low-risk balancing challenges just above a mulch surface (ages 3–7). The Bouncing Net adds giant trampoline-style fun. JWAC & Net combo €14.
Housed in the Visitor Centre, this exhibition tells the story of Castlecomer's coal-mining past and the Wandesforde family. Note: the exhibition is currently closed — check the website for reopening updates.
